Dharmapala ( bahasa Sinhala : අනගාරික ධර්මපාල ; 17 September 1864 - 29 April 1933) adalah tokoh kebangkitan dan penulis Buddha Sri Lanka . Ia adalah salah satu pendiri gerakan Nasionalisme dan Buddhisme Sinhala yang non-kekerasan.
Sebuah jalan di Colombo dinamai sesuai dengan namanya " Srimath Anagarika dharmapala mawatha.
Kehidupan awal

Lahir pada 17 September 1864 di Colombo , Ceylon dari pasangan Don Carolis Hewavitharana dan Mallika Dharmagunawardhana (putri dari ), yang merupakan pedagang terkaya di Ceylon pada waktu itu. Ia dinamai Don David Hewavitharane. Adik laki-lakinya adalah Charles Alwis Hewavitharana dan Edmund Hewavitarne .
Kontribusi religius
Pada tahun 1897 ia membuat Miranda de Souza Canavarro yang dikenal sebagai "Suster Sanghamitta" menganut agama Buddha dan membentuk sekolah di Sri Lanka (Ceylon).
