Tank infanteri merupakan sebuah jenis tank yang bertugas untuk mendukung gerak maju dan memberikan perlindungan bagi pasukan infanteri . Oleh karena itu maka tank infanteri biasanya lamban dan memiliki lapisan baja yang lumayan tebal.
Tank infanteri sendiri dikembangkan oleh Prancis dan Britania Raya pada masa Perang Dunia II .
Tank infanteri akhirnya tergantikan oleh tank universal yang dapat melakukan berbagai peran, baik tank infanteri maupun tank jelajah. Momen ini diwakili oleh munculnya tank Centurion yang menggantikan tank Churchill dan tank medium ataupun tank jelajah lainnya.
