Maelgwn adalah dermawan untuk tujuan Kristiani di seluruh Wales. Dia memberikan sumbangan untuk mendukung Santo Brynach di Dyfed, Santo Cadoc di Gwynllwg, Santo Cybi di Anglesey, Santo Padarn di Ceredigion, dan Santo Tydecho di Powys. [ 1 ] Ia juga terlibat dalam pendirian Bangor, tetapi bukti kuat tentang hal ini masih kurang.
