Shigeo Kurata ( 倉田 重夫 , Kurata Shigeo ) adalah seorang ahli botani Jepang dan ahli taksonomi Nepenthes yang bekerja pada tahun 1960-an sampai 1970-an dan berkontribusi banyak pada tumbuhan populer ini. Kurata telah mendeskripsikan sejumlah spesies Nepenthes baru, yaitu N. campanulata , [ 4 ] N. eymae , [ 5 ] , [ 6 ] , [ 7 ] N. rhombicaulis , [ 4 ] dan . [ 8 ] Ia juga mendeskripsikan , [ 6 ] yang kemudian diakui sebagai hibrida alami oleh . [ 9 ] Hibrida alami lain yang dinamai oleh Kurata yaitu N. × ferrugineomarginata , , dan N. × kuchingensis .
