Phylloscopus adalah sebuah burung pengicau pemakan serangga kecil. Genus diperkenalkan oleh ahli zoologi Jerman Friedrich Boie pada tahun 1826. [ 2 ] [ 3 ]
Cikrak daun sebelumnya termasuk dalam keluarga cikrak Dunia Lama tetapi sekarang dianggap milik keluarga Phylloscopidae , diperkenalkan pada tahun 2006. Keluarga awalnya termasuk genus Seicercus, tetapi semua spesies telah dipindahkan ke Phylloscopus dalam klasifikasi terbaru. Cikrak daun aktif, terus bergerak, sering mengepakkan sayap mereka saat mereka mengumpulkan dedaunan untuk serangga di sepanjang cabang-cabang pohon dan semak-semak.

[ 4 ] Sebanyak sebelas spesiesnya sebelumnya ditempatkan dalam genus Seicercus , tetapi studi filogeni molekuler tahun 2018 menunjukkan bahwa genus Seicercus adalah sinonim dari genus Phylloscopus , sehingga famili Phylloscopidae hanya memiliki satu genus saja yakni Phylloscopus .
