
Malayisasi ( bahasa Melayu : Pemelayuan [ 1 ] atau Melayuisasi [ 2 ] atau lazimnya Masuk Melayu [ 3 ] [ 4 ] [ 5 ] [ 6 ] [ 7 ] [ 8 ] ) adalah proses ketika orang-orang dari berbagai latar budaya dan etnis di Asia Tenggara Maritim mengadopsi identitas budaya Islam dan Melayu. Proses ini awalnya terjadi di semenanjung Melayu , Sumatra , dan Kalimantan zaman pra-modern dan cenderung didorong oleh penyebaran Islam sekaligus pendirian kesultanan dan pos dagang Melayu di seluruh nusantara. Etnis Melayu dikenal sebagai masyarakat pedagang pesisir dengan identitas budaya yang beragam. [ 9 ] [ 10 ] [ 11 ] Identitas umum yang mengikat masyarakat Melayu adalah bahasa Melayu , Islam , dan budayanya . ini, yang mendominasi sampai zaman modern, terbentuk selama konsolidasi Kesultanan Melaka sebagai kekuatan regional pada abad ke-15. Malayisasi juga dipandang sebagai proses "pengajaran", terutama terhadap masyarakat suku non-Muslim Batak , Orang Asli , dan Dayak . [ 12 ]
