Ledakan populasi manusia atau kelebihan penduduk manusia adalah kondisi terlalu banyak manusia di Bumi sehingga sumber daya yang ada tidak cukup untuk memenuhi kebutuhan mereka. [ 1 ] Dengan kondisi saat ini, diperkirakan Bumi masih mampu memenuhii kebutuhan sekitar 11 miliar umat manusia. [ 2 ]
Setiap tahun populasi dunia bertambah sekitar 80 juta. Sekitar setengah penduduk dunia hidup di negara dengan dan pertumbuhan populasi dikarenakan imigrasi .
Menurut Worldometer, per 20 September 2020, total jumlah manusia kurang lebih 7,8 miliar. [ 3 ] Perhitungan PBB juga berada pada angka di atas 7 miliar. [ 4 ] Kelahiran bayi ke-7 miliar dirayakan PBB pada 2011. [ 5 ] Dengan pertumbuhan seperti ini, diperlukan pertambahan sumber daya 70 persen untuk dapat memenuhi kebutuhan manusia pada 2050. [ 6 ]
