Film fantasi adalah salahsatu genre film yang masuk dalam genre fantasi dengan tema-tema fantastik, yang biasanya melibatkan sihir , peristiwa-peristiwa supranatural , mitologi , cerita rakyat , atau dunia-dunia fantasi yang eksotis. Genre tersebut dianggap merupakan bentuk dari fiksi spekulatif bersama dengan film fiksi ilmiah dan film horor . Film-film fantasi sering memiliki sebuah unsur dari sihir, mitos , keajaiban, eskapisme, dan ke-luar biasa-an. ^{[ 1 ]}

Menurut Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia film fantasi berarti lakon (cerita) gambar hidup bukan berdasarkan kejadian yang sebenarnya atau khayalan. Film fantasi yang bersifat Fiksi terbentuk dari 3 komponen, yaitu : cerita khayalan, tokoh fiksi, dan latar tempat yang tidak diketahui zaman dan dimensi nya. ^{[ 2 ]}
