Demam Nil Barat adalah sebuah infeksi oleh virus Nil Barat , yang biasanya disebarkan oleh nyamuk -nyamuk. [ 1 ] Sekitar 80% orang yang terinfeksi hanya mengalami sedikit atau tanpa gejala. [ 2 ] Sekitar 20% orang mengalami demam , sakit kepala, muntah atau ruam. [ 1 ] Kurang dari 1% orang mengalami ensefalitis atau meningitis . [ 1 ] Penyembuhan membutuhkan waktu selama berpekan-pekan atau berbulan-bulan. [ 1 ] Risiko kematian dari orang yang terdampak berjumlah sekitar 10 persen. [ 1 ]
